Mission Not Impossible |
What is the MNI Ministries? Below is a description of what the ministry is and how it got started.
|
| I, and others in
our church, had been praying about God's plan for Calvary Chapel Lake Forest in regards to
mission outreach. It is good for us to reach out to others locally and worldwide, and my
prayer was "Lord what would you have us do?" The church does support other
ministry efforts, but I knew God wanted us to be involved in some way directly. One night my wife could not sleep and I woke up and
could not fall back asleep either. I suggested we just get up and I would write some
things down the Lord was saying to me and she could work on her ladies study. This was in
the 2:00 am to 3:00 am time frame - yet we were wide-awake.
I prayed the Lord would speak to me
on reaching out in some way to others. The question came to me -"Jim, what is it that
you do?" I said "Teach and preach the word of God Lord." "I'm involved
with the word." He said, "that is what I want you and Calvary Chapel to do - get
the word of God out." My next question was "How Lord?" His answer
"Pass out bibles, get the word of God into peoples' homes; you deal with the word of
God, then pass the word of God out to those who don't have it."
The Lord then gave me direction as
to the immediate way to accomplish this. Ask store managers if you can set up a table in
front of their store with a sign - free bibles - and stock the table with bibles.
It came together that quickly and
here we are now just a few months down the road having passed out over 600 bibles.
By the way, when the Lord first
spoke I didn't know how receptive the stores or people would be to distributing God's
word. I wondered if it would be possible. The Lord said, "with God nothing is
impossible." I realized the Lord was quoting me: Luke 1:37.
I assigned a name, the Lord's name,
to this new exciting ministry. Mission Not Impossible. Therefore MNI Ministries is alive
and well at Calvary Chapel of Lake Forest. It is our desire to place a bible into every
home the Lord would allow us to.
Many of you have been involved in
this ministry and I want to thank you for your obedience to the Lord in getting His word
out. The reception has been beyond my expectation and it is exciting to watch the Lord
work.
I would now encourage all of us here
at Calvary Chapel of Lake Forest to pray daily for those that have received God's word.
Pray that they read, understand and enter into new life. Our prayer will be heard and
bibles will be opened by the grace of God.
Just a footnote: I always thought of
how exciting it would be to live in the days of Jesus where one could go down to the
marketplace, where people would gather, buy food and be able to share things concerning
God. As this ministry started I realized God has brought us to the marketplace to
distribute His word, what a privilege.
May God richly bless all of you and
MNI Ministries. Pastor Jim
